木で複雑な曲面を実現した、うねるベンチ

An undulating bench that achieves complex curves in wood

カーフベンディングの手法で、複雑な曲面を構成した木製ベンチ。3Dデータから直接部材を製作する工程により、製作期間を大幅に短縮した。

A wooden bench forming complex curved surfaces using the kerf bending technique. A process of making parts directly from 3D data significantly shortened the production period.

SLUSH TOKYOの会場に置かれ、来場者が腰掛けたり、PCを広げて作業したりする場所として使われた。

Placed at the SLUSH TOKYO venue, it was used by visitors as a place to sit down or open their laptops and work.

施工プロセス

Construction Process

18mmのベニヤ板（ロシアンバーチ）にShopBotで複雑なスリット加工を施し、曲げた状態で骨組みに固定している。台座には鉄骨を用い、3Dモデリングデータから直接部材をレーザー加工・溶接した。

会場では鉄骨の台座を据え、その上にスリットを入れて曲げた合板のパーツを取り付けて組み上げた。

Construction Process

Complex slits were cut into 18 mm plywood (Russian birch) with ShopBot, which was then bent and fixed to the frame. The steel base was made by laser-cutting and welding parts directly from the 3D modeling data.

At the venue, the steel base was set in place, and the slit and bent plywood parts were mounted on it and assembled.
