EMARF Announces Development of a New ChatGPT-Powered Making Tool That Automatically Generates 3D Models from Conversations with AI and Enables One-Stop Fabrication Orders

EMARF (https://emarf.co/), a cloud-based timber precut service, has begun developing “EMARF AI” (working title), a ChatGPT-powered tool that generates 3D models from conversations. With this new tool, users can instantly turn what they imagine into a 3D model simply by chatting with AI, even without design skills. Development has already reached the stage where 3D models generated by EMARF AI can be ordered for fabrication through EMARF.

Toward the official launch of the tool, VUILD, which handles everything from design to fabrication in-house, will analyze and turn into patterns the know-how it has built up, including joinery and structural strength, to increase the variety of designs that AI can generate. We will continue development so that anyone can create original products easily and quickly, even without CAD or design skills.

“EMARF AI” is a ChatGPT-powered design tool that automatically generates 3D models from conversations with AI. The 3D models generated from the chat are instantly converted into drawings and can be ordered through EMARF with a single click.

Because a design model is created simply by telling the AI what you want to make, even people who cannot use design software such as CAD or Illustrator, or who have no design skills, can create furniture and spaces exactly as they imagine them. It can also be used as a design assistance tool.

■ Background: the challenges EMARF AI solves

EMARF launched in 2018 with the wish to “create a world where everyone can build their own way of living with their own hands.” Along the way, however, we often heard from users that “I have something I want to make, but I don’t know how to design the structure or joints,” “I don’t know how to design it,” or “I can’t use design software,” and we repeatedly faced how high the hurdle of the design process is.

“If design is the hurdle, shouldn’t we simplify the process and lower that hurdle?”

The development of EMARF AI began with this awareness. We aim for a future in which building your ideal way of living with your own hands is a matter of course for everyone. Toward the official launch, we will further advance data analysis and system development.

Simply describe what you want to the AI via chat, and a 3D model is generated automatically. You can then enter text instructions about detailed sizes and shapes to edit the design of the generated 3D model, bringing it as close as possible to the ideal design you have in mind.

(2) Order fabrication directly: joints and structural strength are designed automatically, and the parts are delivered ready to assemble

You can choose your favorite from the automatically generated 3D models and order it for fabrication through EMARF.

Joints and structural strength are also generated automatically, so even first-time makers can build with confidence. A cost estimate is calculated automatically, and once you place an order, wooden parts cut on the “ShopBot” digital wood processing machine arrive in about a week, ready for you to enjoy assembling.
