VUILD Supports the Planning, Design and Fabrication of “(0,0,0) studio genten,” a Digital Fabrication Studio KOKUYO Opens on November 1

VUILD Inc. (hereafter VUILD), an architecture-tech startup that runs businesses using digital fabrication technology under its vision of “democratizing architecture,” has supported KOKUYO Co., Ltd. (head office: Osaka; President: Hidekuni Kuroda; hereafter KOKUYO) in realizing “(0,0,0) studio genten,” a digital fabrication studio that KOKUYO will open on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, inside “THE CAMPUS,” its Tokyo Shinagawa office, covering everything from planning to design and fabrication.

VUILD entered into a capital alliance with KOKUYO in July 2022 and has been providing technical support that draws on its digital fabrication know-how to create new value. Earlier, in October 2021, VUILD held a variety of workshops, including a chair-making workshop using its cloud timber pre-cutting service “EMARF.” Working across KOKUYO’s business divisions, VUILD provides opportunities for design and making, from learning through lectures (digital design) to hands-on practice in design and fabrication (prototyping design).

The newly opened “(0,0,0) studio genten” is equipped with “ShopBot,” the digital wood-processing machine for which VUILD is the sales agent in Japan. Using digital fabrication technology that allows data designed in 3D CAD to be fabricated directly, the studio is a place where artworks, interiors, furniture and more can be made while repeatedly prototyping on real projects inside and outside KOKUYO, and it is expected to foster co-creation among KOKUYO employees and others involved in design. VUILD plans to continue working with KOKUYO on furniture and interior design. Drawing on its digital fabrication know-how, VUILD will support the development of the next generation of makers.
