Online Fabrication Service “EMARF” Holds an Exhibition to Celebrate Its Expanded Range of Materials, Showing Eight Works by Seven Artists and a Competition Grand Prize Winner

To celebrate the release of Color MDF, which becomes available on EMARF from Wednesday, April 20, the exhibition will show works made with the material by seven artists and designers. In addition, the design by the grand prize winners of a student-only competition*³, held in advance through an open call, will be fabricated and exhibited at the same venue.

EMARF is a cloud service that lets you complete the entire process of wooden fabrication online, from design to cutting the parts. Even people who previously needed specialist knowledge, or who gave up because of cost or lead-time constraints, can obtain wooden parts simply by uploading CAD data to EMARF online. Since its launch in May 2020, it has been used in a wide range of settings, not only for making furniture and products but also for artworks, interiors and temporary architecture.

*²What is Color MDF?
Color MDF is a board made by dyeing wood fibers before bonding them with adhesive and forming them into sheets. Its cut surfaces finish cleanly, and because the edges and faces are the same color wherever it is cut, it can be machined without color unevenness. Curved cuts also finish cleanly with little burring. A clear coat gives it a wet look and deepens the color. On EMARF, 18 mm boards are available in five colors (black, gray, red, blue and yellow).
