Japan's first cloud precut service (*)

VUILD Inc. (“VUILD”) today launched “EMARF 3.0,” Japan’s first cloud precut service, which makes it possible to make architectural things from home.
“EMARF 3.0” is plug-in software that extends the functions of CAD (computer-aided design). Wooden building components that until now required specialist knowledge, or that people gave up on because of cost or lead-time constraints, can be submitted online from within CAD and output as if you had your own workshop.

In the architecture and design industry, almost all meetings, starting with the preparation of drawings, have been held face to face (offline). Recently, however, as one of the measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), this industry too has been required to shift quickly to remote-based ways of working.

In this environment, “EMARF 3.0” provides a system that requires no offline meetings at all and lets everything from design to fabrication orders be completed online, making online manufacturing a reality.
Using “EMARF 3.0,” designers can take data drawn in the CAD software they normally use and instantly, online, have fabrication data generated automatically and estimates of processing and material costs calculated. Once they agree to the estimate, the fabrication data is sent to builders and sawmills across Japan that have CNC routers, and processing begins.

This allows architects to understand feasibility and budget at the design stage, reducing design rework, saving a great deal of time and letting them focus on their core design work. In addition, because CAD connects directly to digital fabrication machines such as CNC routers via “EMARF 3.0,” the gap between the image at the design stage and the actual building is small, making it possible to realize exactly what you envisioned.
And because processing is done digitally by machine, even complex designs can be realized relatively inexpensively.

<Features of EMARF 3.0>
▼Supports the major CAD programs used in architectural and product design

Supports Rhinoceros, AutoCAD and Vectorworks, the major CAD programs for architectural design, as well as Adobe Illustrator for general users, with extended functions that link CAD data with EMARF.
▼Instant estimates
Automatically and instantly calculates processing time and estimates of material and processing costs. (Free up to the creation of an estimate)
▼Supports CNC routers from 3-axis to 5-axis machines
For 3-axis machines, it supports “ShopBot,” a US-made woodworking CNC router that can handle a wide range of 2D to 3D processing on a single machine; for 5-axis machines, it supports the “Rover” machining center from BIESSE of Italy, the world’s largest woodworking machinery manufacturer.
▼Precut available at 50 locations nationwide
Converted fabrication data can be output at more than 50 builders and sawmills across Japan, including VUILD’s Kawasaki and Honmoku factories.
