Overview

A living room in the forest, softly wrapped in light and breeze
A development project for “camp pod,” an assembly unit for staying overnight at campsites. In the future it is intended to accommodate uses such as kitchens and toilets, with multiple units combined to form outdoor living bases. Overlapping modules provide protection from rain and sun, while slits between modules allow ventilation and daylight.

Construction Process

CLT panels were machined on a 5-axis CNC to form 90 modules, each made of three panels. The whole is built by stacking the modules with an offset, and since each is joined only with bolts and nuts, it can be assembled and dismantled with ordinary tools.

The algorithmically defined spiral form can be adjusted in shape and size to suit site conditions.

The diagram shows the composition at three scales: material, element, and structure.
