Overview
02 Process
A single-story timber shop and lounge with a total floor area of 81.9 m². Design ran from January to November 2022, and construction from December 2022 to July 2023.
木造平屋、延床面積81.9㎡の店舗兼ラウンジである。設計は2022年1月から11月、工事は2022年12月から2023年7月にかけて行った。
The client sourced stone and timber on the island and carried out debarking, sawing, and painting under the guidance of craftspeople. A plastic greenhouse was converted into a timber dryer and a small CNC was installed to use the island’s cypress, keeping sourcing within a 5.5 km radius. The foundation uses large granite boulders, and the structure uses 700 cypress logs in arched units of alternating halved and two-sided logs. Members were kept under 2.5 m to suit ShopBot machining.
Construction was carried out by Maruki Inoue Komuten, and the timber was processed by VUILD and Shodoshima Healthyland.
施主自らが島内で石材と木材を調達し、皮むき・製材・塗装を職人の指導のもとで行った。ビニールハウスを木材乾燥機に改造し、小型CNCを設置して島のヒノキを活用した結果、資材の調達範囲は半径5.5km以内に収まった。基礎には花崗岩の巨石、構造には700本のヒノキ丸太を用い、半割材と太鼓材を交互に組んだアーチ状のユニットとした。部材長はShopBotの加工条件から2.5m以下とした。
施工はマル喜井上工務店が担い、木材加工はVUILDと小豆島ヘルシーランドが行った。
The plan, extending in three directions around a thousand-year-old olive tree, was designed for natural ventilation and daylight.
Structural design was by Graph Studio, environmental engineering by Studio Nora, and lighting by TILe.
樹齢千年のオリーブを囲む三方向に広がる平面は、自然換気と採光を考慮したものである。
構造設計はGraph Studio、環境設備はスタジオノラ、照明はTILeが担当した。
